DONATIONS TO HAITI
The message below is from the President of my company.
************************************************************************
Dear Everyone,
Just so you know we have given a donation from our company to the Sisters of St. Joseph. They are nuns who have had a mission in Haiti for decades helping out the poorest of the poor. We have given donations to them for years. The money goes straight to the people who need it without any overhead. The connection to the sisters is my aunt, Cecelia Barry who is a nun.
To give you an idea of what's going on there you can read the Globe and Maill article (see below) mentioning Sister Mary Alban who is a friend of my Aunt Cel's. Interestingly enough the sisters here in Toronto had no idea if she was still alive until they read the Globe article this past Monday. Across Canada any sisters who speak French and have a medical degree (most of them are nurses with 30-40 years of experience) have been asked to return to Haiti as soon as possible if they're able. Another of my aunt's friends, Sister Lorraine Malo, who some of you have met as she visited our company a couple of years ago, is one of the ladies who has answered the call. She has been caring for the sick in various parts of Canada as well as her sister who has Alzheimer's but she wants to do her part in Haiti as she has done in previous years. She's 75.
This just gives you an idea of where your/our money is going. They are unbelievable women in unfathomable situations who think of nothing other than what and who they can help 24 hours a day everyday. Pretty amazing.
